MISSISSIPPI
COORDINATED ACCESS NETWORK Program
Program Description
The Mississippi Division
of Medicaid will contract with Coordinated Care Organizations (“CCOs”) to
provide services to members in the MississippiCAN program
- The
program will be statewide, covering all 82 counties
- Key Dates:
- The DOM
reviewed proposals and awarded the opportunity to contract to Magnolia Health
Plan and UnitedHealthcare

Enrollment effective date is proposed for October 1st, 2010
- Target
population includes current fee for service Medicaid members who also:
- are SSI
eligible; or
- have a
disabled child at home; or
- are
identified as Working Disabled; or
- are
Breast/Cervical Cancer Program Members.
- Enrollment
Process:
- Members
will be notified of enrollment in MississippiCAN program
- Members
will have an opportunity to select plan to enroll in (after 30 days, members
will be auto assigned into a plan);
- For 90
days post enrollment members may opt out of MississippiCAN program (return to
FFS Medicaid), after which they will remain in the program for 1 year.
- CCO Health
Benefits
- At a
minimum, CCO benefits must match the current Medicaid benefits
- CCO will
be responsible for:
- Building
and maintaining a provider network (all
providers must have active Medicaid ID number)
- Managing
health benefits

Administering claims
- Operating
provider and beneficiary call centers
- Providing
disease management services focused on chronic conditions such as diabetes,
asthma, hypertension, obesity, congestive heart disease, hemophilia,
transplants, etc.
